We are looking forward to the next round of free teacher workshops coming up at Oxford TEFL in Barcelona! Join us on one, or more, of the following Fridays to pick up some practical tips and develop your teaching skills from experienced teachers and trainers. As always, there will be snacks and drinks in the break which is another opportunity to network with other teachers in the city and enjoy our lovely garden. These workshops are suitable for native and non-native English speaking teachers, thoguh sessions will all be given in English.
Friday November 8th
11.00 – 11.45 Assessing Cambridge Writing Tests – Billie Haase, Oxford TEFL Tutor
This practical workshop is for teachers who would like to become more familiar with the assessment criteria of the Cambridge writing paper and increase their confidence when marking those. You are going to mark students’ written answers for tasks from the First and Advanced exam and discuss the grades with other teachers
12.15 – 13.00 80 ways for ELT to save the planet – Duncan Foord, Oxford TEFL Director
What are the options and their potential impact? Faced with this multiple choice exercise, what can students, teachers and schools do individually and as a community to make a positive contribution. Come to this workshop to find out some facts, share some thoughts, spread some optimism and make a commitment!
Friday November 15th
11.00 – 11.45 Pronunciation made easier – Melody Philip, Oxford TEFL Tutor
In this session we will be looking at a variety of ways to integrate the often tricky topic of pronunciation into your classes and some hacks to make teaching pronunciation easier.
12.15 – 13.00 Using Games to Engage Teens with Exam Practice – Tom Johnson, Oxford House Teacher
Getting teens motivated about exam practise can be impossible but in the current EFL climate it is becoming increasingly common. We will look about the best way to utilize games and some useful ways to practise for the exam
Friday November 22nd
11.00 – 11.45 Error correction for speaking – Jack McKechnie Assistant Director of Studies
This workshop will look at the arguments for and against correcting your students’ spoken production, and will suggest ways to include more effective error correction in your classes.
12.15 – 13.00 Consolidation with Imagination – Luke Worsnop, Oxford House Teacher
Review and consolidation are essential for reinforcing learning, but can sometimes feel repetitive or dull. This workshop will provide you with a variety of engaging ways to re-introduce language you’ve covered in class, all of which can be put into practice with little planning or preparation.
